CAPITAL COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Capital Community Foundation, Inc. began in 1995 to provide a means by which concerned charitable donors could develop a responsible plan for giving. If you are a thoughtful donor who is looking for a way to give more to causes that are important to you, you will want to consider the advantages of establishing a donor-advised family fund with the Capital Community Foundation, Inc. (CCF). In today's world, filled with many worthy causes and confusing financial and tax issues, developing a plan that meets all of your charitable giving goals may seem like a complicated matter. The truth is, when you work with the CCF, it doesn't have to be.

The CCF is a tax-exempt public charity that allows donors to make contributions of cash or appreciated assets to the CCF, which then manages and invests the assets in a donor-advised family fund. The CCF consults with the donor and allows the donor to designate the charitable purposes for which the assets are to be used (subject to approval by the CCF board), thereby allowing the donor to have continuing input into how his or her gift is dispersed to other public charities. Simply put, when you establish a family fund with the CCF, your gift is protected under the CCF's public charity umbrella, and at the same time you continue to be involved with choosing which of your favorite causes or concerns will receive the benefits of your generosity. The CCF is a single charitable institution, not simply an aggregation of funds, and therefore can provide donors with more options, more informed advice and more stable management than donors can generally obtain on their own.

Today We Know That Money Can, Indeed,
Buy Happiness - If You Use It For Worthy Causes.

Money can provide scholarships for deserving students, it can support church work that touches many lives, it can bring food and clothing to needy children, help protect the environment and offer hope where before there was none. Making sure your money accomplishes your charitable goals in the most effective fashion possible is the purpose of the CCF. Charitable institutions depend more today on the generosity of people like you. Establishing a managed, ongoing family fund that benefits your favorite charities, while protecting the assets in the family fund, makes good business and philanthropic sense. Also, a single large grant can sometimes overwhelm a charity, or start it on a path of capital expenditures that may not be necessary. A careful giving program designed with expert financial and legal guidance can help your favorite charities in ways that will be most beneficial and effective.

“Those who would
administer wisely
must, indeed, be
wise, for one of the
serious obstacles to
the improvement
of our race is
indiscriminate charity.”

Andrew Carnegie

The CCF was founded to solicit support from the general public, other public charities and governmental units; to manage and invest donated funds wisely; to review and analyze the activities of other Section 501(c)(3) organizations which may need funding to accomplish projects or other activities which help further their exempt purposes; and to provide grants, loans and other gifts to Section 501(c)(3) organizations to assist with their exempt purposes. The CCF makes annual grants in an amount at least equal to its net income each year. The fund-raising and the making of grants to Section 501(c)(3) organizations is controlled by the CCF Board of Directors and must comply with the CCF's exempt purposes. All assets held in the CCF family funds belong solely to the CCF, and are not subject to any material restriction whatsoever. All recipients of gifts from the CCF must be tax-exempt public charities.
