Meet Zoe Smith of Zoe's Ark...A New Generation of Giving
At the age of 9 years, Zoe Smith became a philanthropist with a mission to end world hunger. She set up a fund with the Capital Community Foundation and named it Zoe's Ark. Her goal was to raise $5,000 dollars for the nonprofit Heifer International by the time she reached the age of 12. Zoe wanted to raise money for Heifer International and their mission of providing families and communties with farm animals to use for farming and food. Raising money by selling her handmade jewelry and baked goods, she has contributed over $11,000 dollars to Zoe's Ark! She has twice surpassed her goal and is not yet 12 years old!
Zoe's drive to give back to the community captures the message and spirit of the Capital Community Foundation... A new generation of giving and the opportunity to make a real difference. Zoe is our future, and with the support of her parents, Jessie and Chris Smith, she is already leaving a charitable legacy for future generations.
